Harvey Mandel and Canned Heat at Woodstock 1969

Happy Woodstock day Harvey Mandel ♪

Woodstock, the iconic festival that rocked New York, took place the weekend of August 15-18, 1969, on Max Yasgur’s dairy farm in Bethel, New York, 40 miles southwest of the town of Woodstock. Unsurprisingly, it remains the most famous music festival in rock ‘n’ roll history.

Canned Heat’s gig took place during sunset. The sky was cloudy, so it was a little bit darker than usual. Canned Heat opened with the unstoppable ‘Going Up With The Country,’ with a magnificent solo by Harvey. Here’s a rare version of their performance – have a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2t4ChnIWqw
