Hello again! Here’s more good news… Harvey is at work on his comeback single. He says he’s glad to get back to what makes him happy – making music. Harvey began writing the music and by Saturday was satisfied with direction and committed to recording the rhythm tracks. Harvey hired a rhythm section in Chicago, bringing in seasoned studio and touring musicians to round out the recording. It was decided to begin recording on Sunday at Timm’s studio.
Sunday turned out to be an excellent day for recording, every one was available, and ready to go. We started at 2 pm, got everything set up by 2:30, and started recording straight away. I set up my cameras to capture the session on video. From what I could see the guys were ready, and with Timm’s thumbs up, they started recording. It didn’t take long until we were listening to the first tracks laid down. I got all of it on video and stills. By 4 they were working on dubs for high hat, tambourine and cow bell. Yup, someone even said we needed more cow bell. We wrapped up by 5, got everything put away by 5:30 we’re happily on our way with the first parts of Harvey’s song.
During last week we received many donations, getting us to about a third of the way to our goal. We were able to pay the Chicago guys right as we finished recording — big smiles all around. I’m hoping we’ll be getting even more this week. We have another session scheduled with keyboards at the end of the week. Harvey will also have sessions set up at his studio in San Francisco over the next two weeks.
